ROLLER COASTER

Built in red/green and based loosely on the one which resided on Clacton Pier. It’s about 5ft-3ins long with a rigid framework and the track is formed by strips 1-1/2" apart. The cars are raised by a chain drive to the top and then by gravity down through the various dips to the station. This has been a great crowd puller at exhibitions but suffered from occasional derailments. I have now replaced the flanged wheels with specially turned solid brass ones, incorporating a very carefully designed profile. The cars are now articulated two-car units and run much more reliably. More pictures and information can be found in Constructor Quarterly No 24.
