Website stock availability is continuously updated, so we can vitually always supply everything you order. If on the odd occasion we get caught out, we automatically refund you, unless there's an apropriate substitute.

Please Note; we will hapilly take orders at ANYTIME for collection at Dunmow, or at meetings we attend. (Please see "attended meetings") Just email or post a scan of the "What's in my Cart" page showing all quantities, prices and options shown rtc.

NEW! We now take orders ANYTIME to ANYWHERE, if paid by cheques drawn on UK banks. Please email me.

Please also see our Product InformationFAQs & Attended Meetings pages.

*This service is run mainly by one Meccano enthusiast (Me, Dave Taylor). We also sell at meetings and exhibitions, so I can't cope if the checkout is continuously open. Good notice is given of the next opening date  where possible..

Disposing of Meccano? to top up essentials for our customers during the winding down operation, we still sometimes buy accumulations of good quality Meccano. Please email me at with pictures and I'll respond promptly with an offer if it's suitable.

Shipping & Returns

We usually dispatch orders 1-7 working days from receipt, but please be patient as processing orders is a one man operation and sometimes we can be very busy. Also, there may be delays during holiday periods.

Please note: we always obtain proof of postage, but once in the hands of the carrier we have no further control and therefore cannot accept responsibility for delay, damage or loss. In the case of insured orders we will dilligently make a claim if necessary on behalf of the customer and pass on the full amount of any compensation received. However please note that Royal Mail and other delivery services always seek to impose restrictions on claims eg; limiting to cost/trade price of goods only, no taxes, no other charges of any sort covered etc. Therefore any claim, if and when settled, will usually be less than the total cost the customer has paid. Until a claim has been settled, we regret we cannot replace a delayed, damaged or lost order without a full payment for goods, postage, insurance and Paypal etc as appropriate.

Should any item not be to our specified quality (See product information), please always contact us in the first instance, before returning for replacement.

Regretably, as a small business, we are unable to accept returns on correctly supplied goods. However, at our sole discretion, we may consider returns from longstanding, regular customers who make a request within 7 days of receipt of the goods. In which case we will credit against new orders the goods value only, less a 15% restocking charge provided they are returned by the purchaser at their expense in the same condition as supplied.

Parts designated 2nd quality cannot be accepted for return, unless they are physically (not cosmetically) defective. Mixed 2nd quality parts are not accepted for return under any circumstances.

Please note: We are not normally able to refund postal charges.

UK shipping is automaticaly worked out at 10% of the total value of your order plus £1.50 (up to a £29.95 maximum) plus a small charge for packing where aplicable.
Orders above £100 goods value are usually insured at no extra cost.
Orders below £100 can be insured for £5 (this can be selected during the checkout process).

Very occasionally, if an order consists largely of heavy/low value parts, the postage cost can substantially exceed our P.P. formula. While we will absorb small amounts of extra postage, we will advise if any extra payment is needed.

If you are not using card/Paypal please send a cheque or P.O. to;-
D J Taylor, The Groves, Clapton Hall Lane, Great Dunmow, ESSEX, CM6 1JE
Please include the order number, your name, address, email and telephone number.

We usually trade at the following clubs & exhibitions where pre-paid orders can be collected, saving postal charges; NELMC (Hainault), Runnymede (Chertsey), SELMC (Falconwood), HSME (Henley) and TIMS (Telford). Plus anual exhibitions at Skegness, Eltham, Telford, Henley, Hainault and Liecester.
Customers are also welcome to collect orders from Great Dunmow by appointment.

If you wish to collect your goods please be sure to select "Collection" from the shipping options in the checkout and to specify where you would like to collect your order from in the comments box.

We can accept a pre-paid cheque for "collected" orders if there's enough time for them to clear, otherwise we require cash on collection please. If you opt for the latter, don't send a payment, though on large orders we may ask for a nominal deposit.

Shipping is charged AT COST* (by the most appropriate service) plus £2.95 and a small packing charge where appropriate.
(*We generally quote Royal Mail Airmail/Parcelforce Global Value standard prices. Sometimes we use other established carriers where there is a better/quicker service available at no extra cost).

The preferred payment method is Credit Card or PayPal. (We do not charge a surcharge).

Simply proceed with your order online to make a payment for the goods only. We will contact you with the shipping cost when the parcel is ready.
Shipping on orders over £100 is usually insured. If you require shipping insurance on orders of under £100 (though this is often relatively expensive) please specify in the comments box during the checkout stages and we will include this in the final tally.

The extra payment for shipping can then be paid via Credit Card or Paypal.
When advised shipping payments should be made via our "make shipping payment" page. (This facility can be used for other miscelaneous payments as well).

Occasionally, on very large orders, or to new customers, we will ask for payment by bank transfer.

From this date, the EU has seen fit to ban Credit Card surcharges and in the UK they have kindly extended that to include Paypal as well! (All our credit card transactions are processed through Paypal). This means that small businesses still pay the (very substantial) transaction fees, but are not allowed to pass them on directly to their customers. Furthermore, in our case, this reduces our average profit margin by around 15%.  Theres no way we can absorb such a big loss (especially with all our discounted Bulk Packs). We are allowed to change our prices to cover the loss, but as we have thousands of separate prices, that's an impossible task for us. It would also be very unfair to our customers who buy at our selling venues, where orders are collected personally and our costs are much lower. So we have decided yes, we will drop Paypal/Credit Card surcharges, but will have to make a small chage, where aplicable, for packing to cover the loss where apprpriate. The changes have been aranged to keep overall prices per order unchangesd. We will monitor how this works and may change/simplify it if needed.
